Dr. Nelson enjoys an active practice that is a mix of inpatient palliative medicine consultations, daily teaching of medical students, residents, and hospice and palliative medicine fellows as well as getting to spend time as a hospice medical director. His main interests academically and professionally involve palliative care program development, medical education and curriculum development, and research involving the overall impact of palliative medicine in communities and hospital systems. He is honored to have won 2 teaching awards from UTHSC medical students in the last few years.
