Dr. Enfield also serves as Vice Chair for Quality and Patient Safety and Section Chief Critical Care at the University of Virginia School of Medicine, and Associate Chief Medical Officer for Critical Care and Medical Director of the Special Pathogens Unit both at UVA Health in Charlottesville, VA.
Dr. Enfield has received a number of awards for excellence in teaching, and he has a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Science Center and completed his Certificate Executive Leadership for Healthcare Professionals at Cornell University. Dr. Enfield’s current research focuses on the role of visual data management in improving clinical outcomes for critically ill patients and long-term clinical outcomes associated with a critical illness. He is also actively involved in several projects using datasets of critically ill patients to better understand the outcomes of patients in the ICU during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
