Dr. Schaer’s current research focuses on new interventional and drug therapies for patients with coronary and peripheral arterial disease. He is the founder of Rush Interventional Heart and Vascular Research, which is currently enrolling patients into many drug and device trials, with a special interest in regenerative medicine. Dr. Schaer also supervises a large animal catheterization laboratory where new approaches are developed and tested. He has trained more than 130 general cardiology fellows and 25 interventional cardiology fellows. Dr. Schaer has authored or co-authored more than 200 original articles, book chapters, editorials, and abstracts. He lectures on acute coronary syndromes and other topics in interventional heart and vascular disease regionally, nationally and internationally.
