Dr. West is an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Physician at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She cares for critically ill patients in the medical intensive care unit. Her clinical interests include airway management, septic shock, pleural diseases, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary embolism, and chronic respiratory failure in neuromuscular disease, in particular ALS.
She has participated in research aimed at understanding the dysregulated inflammatory and coagulation cascades in severe sepsis and septic shock. As the associate fellowship program director, Dr. West has led many educational initiatives to advance house staff training by developing a simulation curriculum to learn point-of-care ultrasound and emergency intubation in the ICU.
