Dr. Silberstein graduated from Amherst College where he was Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa. He completed medical school at the State University of New York at Buffalo where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Silberstein did his internal medicine residency at the University of Iowa and his Hematology/Oncology Fellowship at the University of Minnesota. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology and Hematology.
He is a Professor of Internal Medicine at Creighton University, and teaches the Creighton University Medical Student, Internal Medicine Residents at Creighton University and the Hematology/Oncology Fellows at the University of Nebraska. He is chief of Oncology at the Omaha Veterans Administration Hospital. He has received numerous teaching awards, and published extensively particularly analyzing large national cancer databases. He practices at the Henry Lynch Cancer Center and has worked closely with Dr. Henry Lynch (Lynch Syndrome). He is the former President of the Association of VA Hematology/Oncology.
