Dr. Breuer is a pediatric intensivist actively involved in the supervision and education of medical students, resident physicians, and fellows in pediatric critical care medicine. A recipient of the Louis A. and Ruth Siegal Award for Excellence in Teaching, he is a frequent lecturer, and Director of Grand Rounds, Department of Pediatrics at John R. Oishei Children’s Hospital. Dr. Breuer has a special interest in quality improvement and personally developed an award-winning project at Duke Children’s Hospital in Durham, NC, to standardize and streamline communications for postoperative admissions to its PICU which demonstrated sustainable improvements in communication errors, antibiotic delays, and pain control. Dr. Breuer serves on the Program Quality Review Subcommittee of the University of Buffalo’s Graduate Medical Education Committee, has authored numerous refereed journal articles, two book chapters, and serves as a reviewer for several journals including Frontiers in Pediatrics, the Journal of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society, and Pediatric Quality and Safety.
