Dr. Attarian is a recognized expert in sleep disorders. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed papers in the area of sleep disturbances, as well as 3 neurology-related books and several book chapters. Dr. Attarian is also the Co-editor of the Clinical Handbook of Insomnia. He is a knowledgeable lecturer who has been invited to present more than 50 lectures. Dr. Avidan has developed key educational modules for teaching sleep topics which have been adopted by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine. He has guest edited three issues of Seminars in Neurology on Sleep, and is the coauthor of Handbook of Sleep Medicine and Review of Sleep Medicine. His research interests are in the field of geriatric sleep medicine, insomnia, and sleep and fatigue management in residency training.

Dr. Bandla is internationally recognized as an expert in pediatric sleep medicine. He has a special interest in the treatment of children needing home ventilation. Previously, Dr. Bandla was the director of education and training at the Sleep Center for Children's Hospital of Wisconsin and the director of the Sleep Disorders Center at Children's Hospital in Omaha.

Dr. Gourineni is the recipient of the A.B. Baker Teaching Recognition Award from the American Academy of Neurology and the Nick Vick Award for Excellence in Teaching Medical Students. She is also a principal investigator and co-investigator on multiple clinical trials on insomnia and restless legs syndrome. Previously, Dr. Gourineni was the program director of the Sleep Fellowship Program and has been published in Sleep: A Comprehensive Handbook, and Journal of Biological Rhythms.

Dr. Herdegen directly supervises the outpatient sleep clinics at the University of Illinois which provides care for more than 1500 patients a year. Dr. Herdegen has participated in a number of clinical research trials involving treatment of insomnia, narcolepsy, and sleep-disordered breathing. He was previously the director of Sleep Disorders Services at Cook County Hospital and co-director of the Sleep Medicine Training Program at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center.

Dr. Hershner is currently the faculty curriculum author and subspecialty education coordinator for the first Sleep Medicine rotation created for Internal Medicine residents. Dr. Hershner has written book chapters in both Sleep Medicine for the Otolaryngologist and Review of Sleep Medicine. Currently she organizes and manages the Sleep Medicine Journal Club and arranges observerships and clinical rotations for sleep medicine at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Mokhlesi currently holds leadership positions at the University of Chicago Sleep Medicine Fellowship program and Sleep Disorders Center. He is a reviewer for the journals Chest, American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Sleep, and the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine. He is also on the editorial board of Chest. Dr. Mokhlesi's most current research interests are focused on obstructive sleep apnea, especially in patients with obesity hypoventilation syndrome.
